Crunch Time

My mommy and my grandma are going to drive down to visit us next week and I'm so excited! Actually, they'll be leaving from my hometown up North on Sunday and then they'll get here sometime Monday afternoon. It's a 900 mile drive, so it'll be much easier on them to split it up into 2 days of driving. My mom is loading up her big red truck (probably as we speak) full of crafty items that she's been making over the last several months because we rented a booth at the local craft festival that's happening a block from my house in a week and a half. We've been planning this for months and I JUST NOW started making things for the booth. That's right, folks. I am the queen of procrastination. Actually, it's not that I haven't had the desire to sew. I just haven't made the time. I'm always so behind on my house work and busy taking care of Scout, that I can never justify taking time to get out my craft supplies and make another mess. Well, since the cleaning lady came on Tuesday, I've been doing a pretty decent job of maintaining the order around here, so I didn't feel bad about dragging my sewing stuff out today during Scout's nap. I made a little credit card pouch with an appliqued bird. The stitching is a bit wonky, so I'll just keep it for myself. LOL :) I hope I can crank out several more of these, as well as some bags and change purses before the fair.

It just so happens that yesterday while Scout and I were taking a walk around the neighborhood, I popped into a local thrift store and found a gigantic pile of vintage fabric. Looks like a lot of it dates back to the 70's. I grabbed up all I could carry. I just couldn't help myself. It was 50 cents a yard and I bought $21.50 worth of that retro textile goodness.
