New Words. New Business?

Scout knows some new words. She now says: Pee-pee, home, and cereal. I also think she tries to say potty, but I'm not sure.
The cereal one really blew me away because it seems like a hard one to say, but she does a good job. It comes out sounding like "See-weo". She also knows how to sign for it. It's a commonly used word around here, because she likes to snack on cheerios. I'm pretty sure that she wouldn't know to call oatmeal or corn flakes cereal...as far as she knows, cheerios are the only things called "cereal", but I guess that's okay for now.

I've been sewing a lot more lately. My plan is to start up an Etsy store and keep it stocked with stuff like purses and aprons and other odds and ends. I'm also splitting a booth with a friend at a local craft fair in October.
Here is one of my creations in progress:

He's not quite finished yet and I'm not very pleased with my wobbly stitching around the arms, but I think he's going to become part of a child's back-pack or small book tote anyway. He can be my test subject to see how my stuff holds up to wear and tear and washes up, since I don't think he's perfect enough to sell.
I have a brain chock full of ideas for things to put in my shop. I only hope I can come up with the time to do it. I feel a little guilty for working on things during the day and letting Scout wander around the house aimlessly while playing by herself sometimes, but I do try to take breaks often to sit and play and interact with her. Plus, with the time I spend nursing her, feeding her lunch and breakfast, and taking walks around the neighborhood, I suppose she's not TOO awfully neglected.
I've always been a late-nite seamstress, but I've been trying to go to bed at the same time DH does (for a change) because it's nice to be able to spend that time together and then I can get up early to cook breakfast and have some quiet moments before Scout gets up. So for now, I have to find bits of time throughout the day to do my sewing....and that ain't no easy feat, let me tell ya.

I just love how our littles pronounce new words. So precious! And about the sewing....HOW CUTE IS THAT!!!!! You are very talented Unkempt Mommy. Very talented indeed. Best of luck on the new business.
You are such a talented lady. I also struggle with not giving my FULL attention to Bailey, like when I am working on Avon stuff, or God forbid just sitting here on the computer or reading a book. But my mom keeps reminding me that she needs to be able to entertain herself without constant companionship, and that's when her creativity develops, and all that stuff... plus you know back in the day moms had to wash clothes by hand and cook from scratch and they actually kept their houses clean, so they weren't just sitting there with the kids all day. But it's so, so hard not to feel guilty. Like, since we chose to stay home we should do nothing but entertain them all day. I think you are doing a great job with Scout and obviously she is developing great and learning a lot and meeting all her milestones early. If she was lagging behind I'd say pay more attention to her but it seems like whatever you are doing is working. Hope you enjoyed my monologue here... going to bed now...
i can't wait for your etsy store! ;) i love your sewing!!
and yay to scout for new words. zenon seems to be saying less.
I couldn't have made a better comment here with the great ones that have been left.
Sounds so cheesy but I don't care- If you don't do things that you enjoy, Scout awake or asleep, playing around you or not, than you can't be a 100% great mom. It's awesome to do the sewing that you do. Not only do you have incredible talent, but I really want to buy a robot!!!!!
I LOVE that robot. Can't remember if I said so at Flickr, but seriously. LOVE.
I LOVE Tara's comment too... (especially since Maggie spends lots of time entertaining herself while I work 30 hours a week from home ;) )
You sew really well. I wouldn't have noticed the lines on the arms...I think you are your own worst critic. I'm envious of what all stitches your machine can do though.
