Carry On

Scout is 8 weeks old today! Wow! Time flies when you're sleep-deprived.
Actually, I can't really complain about our sleep situation lately. I feel well rested. Oh my gosh. I can't believe I just said that. The first month was awful when it comes to sleep. I was a complete zombie.
I'm going to run to Wal-Mart with my friend and her 9 month old son in a little while. It'll be nice to have someone to shop with me. I always feel so lost and freaked out when I'm out in public with Scout by myself. She won't ride in her car seat attached to the shopping cart, it's a crap shoot if she'll actually ride in the stroller without crying, and she's still not fond of the sling. So, I end up pushing the cart or stroller and carrying her....and that is tougher than it sounds, especially when she is being fussy.
I always end up wishing that we would've never left the house. Forget about a budget or a list....all I'm thinking is, "What can I toss in the cart that will sustain us for the next week?" I guess that's why I end up coming home with just bread, lunch meat, and toilet paper.
For the past week or so, she's been tolerating rides in the Ergo carrier, so I think I may take it with me today and see if that'll work. I really hope so.

I wish getting out of the house was easier for you. I am the opposite, I absolutely hate to stay at home with Bailey... to the point that I am very behind on housework and ironing and all that stuff because I am always out somewhere- if not shopping I am having lunch with a friend or at my mom's house or whatever. I need a reminder here and there to take it easy. But I also started taking Bailey out a lot sooner- and it was really tough in the beginning I will admit- so hopefully the more you go out with Scout, the better it will get for you.
It's really nice to know it gets easier. Today's outing actually went pretty well....and I needed that because I was beginning to think I'd never be able to leave the house again.
She was so much more content in the car than usual, which led to her being more calm and laid back in the store. And I figured out why....
We took my friend's car, which has air conditioning. The air in my car has been out for several months, and even though I roll the windows down, I think Scout still gets too hot. This is the South, after all. We're looking into getting it fixed. I can't wait!
