I'm a Boob

Wednesday, May 02, 2007
Scout wants to nurse almost every hour today. Sheesh. We've used a pacifier a few times here and there, but she doesn't seem to like it too well.....and when I do give it to her, I feel guilty because I think, "What if she's really hungry and I am giving her this piece of rubber to suck on because 'It's not time to eat'?" So now, I've just been feeding her every time she starts fussing and rooting around or licking her hands.

MAJOR growth spurt around 3 weeks. It'll pass in a few days -- though she may continue to nurse frequently, it will slow down from this. Don't feel guilty if you need a little break! She will let you know if she needs you.

I meant to type 2 weeks, not 3. I think Sam was 10 days old when he hit his first growth spurt.

I was going to say that she's working on increasing your milk supply. Isn't God amazing that he taught babies how to do that? I remember sitting on the futon with my feet on the ottoman with the boppy tied around my tummy and a poor 20 month old watching WAY too much TV during growth spurts. Goodness, that was over 4.5 years ago and it seems like yesterday. I wish I would have been blogging back then to have it to look back at.

I think Bailey might be hitting that growth spurt as well... she is now 17 days old I think and eating CONSTANTLY it seems like. She even ate more often during the night last night. I'm there with you.

I came over via Gladiator's Mommy. Congratulations!
I remember well how you're feeling right now. I always say, give it 6 weeks and you'll feel like a new woman, if it takes less than that, you're awesome! :) The best place you can be right now is where you are with that sweet bundle snuggled close!
She's so beautiful already! I love the black & white photo below! Hang in there! Cherish the sights and scents! :)
Blessings and prayers,
Angel

I remember the feeling, you'll soon work out when she's on the boob for a feed and when she's on the boob for comfort, S would take his dummy when he just wanted comfort and would scream blue murder if I tried to give it to him when he wanted a feed so he made it pretty easy for me!
