Thanks for all the congratulations! We are so happy. It's fun to share this excitement with others. Our little girl is almost a week old. It's hard to believe. The first few days at home with her have been quite an adjustment....but I expected that. I have been tempted on more than one occasion to give her a pacifier, but I've held out and would like to wait until our nursing relationship is more established to do that (if we introduce her to one at all, not sure). Nursing has been challenging in some ways, but it's getting much easier. I was having trouble getting her to open her little mouth wide enough for a good latch, but I feel like we've recently had a breakthrough in that area and my nipples are on their way to healing. Ahhhhhh. She is definitely getting plenty of milk. Lots of wet and poopy diapers. Woohoo!
She had her first pediatrician visit today. She is super healthy (which I already knew :) She weighs about 7 ounces less than her birthweight, but the doc said that was totally fine and judging by the nursing/diaper log DH and I have been keeping, she is on probably back on her way up to gaining that weight back.
It was nice to get out of the house today, even if we just went to the doctor's office and back. The sun shone as I was riding down the road with my wonderful husband (who is proving to be an incredible dad, by the way) and my beautiful baby daughter. Besides that, I actually took a shower and put on a little make-up (gotta love my mom and grandma for giving me time to do that!).....life is good.

She's so darling!
My (limited) experience tells me that some babies need something to suck on all the time, and those babies are good "candidates" for pacifiers. Others don't really need them, so why bother? Anecdotally, I didn't want to offer one at all, but changed my mind when my fingers all went numb. We waited till he was 4 weeks old and he lost interest at 4 months. You will figure out exactly the right thing for her!
oh, she is incredibly precious. And very loved - the pictures are awesome! I thought she looked like you but after seeing her sleeping with her daddy - she looks a lot like him too!
As for the paci - My daughter needed to suck all the time and we ended up giving her a pacifier. It didn't interfere with nursing at all. My son on the other hand, had a hard time with nursing and didn't really want the pacifier either tho we gave him one anyway. (which was a mistake I think) We'll wait and see what this new little one is like...hopefully soon.
I think you're smart to wait and see if she really needs it. How is the cloth diapering going? I ask because we are planning on using cloth as well - but that's a new venture for me - my older two were in disposables.
oooh cute as a button, you've got a beautiful girl there who takes after her mama! Glad to hear all is going well and sounds like you and hubby are adjusting fantastically to parenthood, beautiful pics.
You are glowing! Baby is sweet and I love the pic of her and your hubby! Congratulations!
So adorable- glad to read and update from you and know that all is going well. WE HAD kind of a similar latch thing with bfing and it has also gotten a lot better for us.
