A list of names for DH to peruse......
Friday, December 08, 2006
I've been feeling our little sprout moving around like crazy these last couple of days. There have been a few jabs that were so hard, they kind of startled me. His or her limbs are close to my belly button again, which is an oddly sensitive area....even on the inside. Feeling the baby move has been the best part of pregnancy so far! Maybe all this movement is causing me to feel like I'm getting to know this little one and that's why I'm suddenly obsessed with NAMING IT.
Last night, while I was sitting at the computer adding to my list of potential boy names, the baby was REALLY active. Apparently, he either hated or loved the names I was choosing.....or it's really a girl in there and she was letting me know that I was wasting my time. Either way, the mushy mommy in me thought it was cute.
I went through ALL the boy names listed on http://www.thinkbabynames.com and carefully picked names I like. I came up with a surprisingly small list, for going through so many pages of names. I must be picky. I tried to consider what I thought DH would like as well, but (God bless him) I bet he will either:
A) Not offer any input at all.
or
B) Only offer negative input without coming up with any alternatives.
I guess some guys just don't start thinking of names until the end of the pregnancy.....I know he's not the only one, but I would at least like to have a list of potential names to choose from when the baby is born, even if we don't have it narrowed down to a few. I don't want the list to be comprised solely of the names I have picked out. It would stink to get to the end of the pregnancy only to find out that DH hates all the names I have chosen and that he either has no other ideas, or (the more likely outcome) that he has only come up with silly names.
I love you, DH....even in all of your bored indifference :)
Since I know you read my blog, I'll go ahead and list all the names I'm tossing around. Keep in mind that there are some I only find suitable as a middle name, and some I'm not totally wild about, but for some reason have an endearing quality that I could learn to love.

Great list!! I think we like many of the same names.
For some reason I can't wrap my head around searching for names yet - with my first two I thought about it constantly - but I'm just not feeling it this time!
By the way - I have a niece named Jasper and it's a fantastic name for a little girl!! :)
Husbands are funny - Keith never wanted to pick names, but he never had any trouble vetoing my choices. As it turns out, I chose our son's name (Noah Thomas) and he chose our daughter's (Dora Joy - she insists that it's Dora Mermaid tho)
Have fun choosing!
yeah, somehow hubby said I agreed to letting him name the first girl and that I got to name the first boy. I don't remember this conversation, but I do have veto rights. I replied to your comment on my blog about how to make the livers.
I like Leisel (sp?) a lot! For the boy, I like Atticus, Axel, Otto. I didn't see Xerxes on your list...am I the only one who loves that name? I probably should go back and figure out what kind of king he was again before I push the name too much!
I love Henry Alexander, Liam Roscoe, and Lydia Claire! So many great names on that list.
I pronounce it Zerkzees. I know there was a Xerxes in the bible and I think he was bad. I'll get back to you on it when I figure it out. :o)
For Danielle - Xerxes was the king in the book of Esther. His advisor Haman tried to manipulate/trick him to get rid of the Israelites but Esther and Mordecai prevailed. (obviously the Cole's notes of the story - there's so much more) I think Xerxes is a great name!!
you'll want to steer clear of HAMAN - he's the bad guy.
Tho speaking of villan names - we know a family who named thier daughter Jezabel (they call her Belle for short) Everyone was quite surprized - but it is a pretty name if you get over the connotations! :)
Sorry to hijack your comments Eipwek
Lee
Naming is so difficult! When we told people we were naming our second child Mary Jane they looked at us like had just sprouted two heads! Mow that she's here (for 8 wonderful years so far) everyone thinks it's so cute and that it suits her to a "t"
I've always been partial to Ezra, and I love Ruby for a girl.
interesting list of names you have there! It took my husband and I 10 years of marrieage before me could agree on baby names!!
