Need Noodles

Friday, September 01, 2006
Geez, am I nauseous! I don't even like going in my kitchen lately. Too many strong odors that I wouldn't normally notice....opening the refrigerator, getting near the trash can, looking @ dirty dishes w/ food residue in the kitchen sink....oh my...not even fun thinking about it.

My friend, whose due date is 6 days before mine, says she is battling nausea too. She normally has a very healthy lifestyle and eats nutritious foods every day, but she said that the only things that sound appealing to her are really junky processed foods like Spaghetti-O's and corn dogs. While I haven't craved those exact things, I haven't been able to bring myself to eat any vegetables for the past day and a half. I took one bite of salad yesterday and didn't even think I was going to be able to swallow it. Starches sound fantastic to me. A giant bowl of some kind of spicy noodles would be great. Please, husband....if you're reading this, take me out for Thai food today or tomorrow. I beg you. I know it's not very healthy, but it's the only thing that doesn't make me want to barf. I didn't think I'd be playing the crazy-pregnant-lady-craving card so early in the game, but it's almost uncontrollable. It's not really that I'm "craving" it....it's that I need food and all other food makes me gag.

Oh, momma, I hear your pain. The exercise was put on a serious hold for me between weeks 6-14. Now I was just starting to get back into an exercise routine and it was a total bummer to not be able to do anything but literally, I was on the couch or in bed everyday. I don't even know what my 2 year old did for 8 weeks...well, he watched way too much television but he let me lay around a lot and that is what I needed.

I was 40 lbs overwieght when I got pregnant this time, so the exercise for me right now is to just start good habits and hopefully keep my weight gain at a normal amount. The breastfeeding will help me loose the weight when baby is born, but I need some healthy habits to get started.

I think for the nauseau, protien is key. If you can get an egg or two in you in the morning, I think you'll be better off all day. And what you had to eat yesterday sounds great. I know you said it wasn't your ideal, but you still got stuff down and it wasn't unhealthy stuff at all! Lay down when you need to, your body is working in overdrive like running a freakin' marathon.

My experience was the same, I couldn't face eating anything other than pre-packed microwave Christmas dinners! Throughout this pregnancy I've still not being able to face certain meats or carrots funnily enough, but that bowl of noodles sure looks yummy!

The day April told me she couldn't stomach normal white bread anymore, I really didn't know what we were going to do!

Thankfully most of the foods she couldn't eat earlier in her pregnancy she eats now. I'm not sure if that's normal, but it felt like a stage in the pregnancy that she outgrew.

Those noodles do look good!
